In 2002, I left my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri, and came to Houston County to be an ESOL itinerant teacher for 4 schools in a day and to support many other schools with their screening and conferencing. I utilized my working proficiency in Spanish to meet the needs of our Spanish-speaking population. Presently, I provide support for MES with our ESOL students and in other circles. I am the Team Captain and Event Lead Co-Chair for Relay for Life of Houston County and serve on Guiding Coalition and the Reading Task Force. This allows me to affect a change in the lives of the multilingual and multicultural populations of Miller and of the entire school population.
